Accident of 1991 Chevy S-10 Pickup

With the body work complete, a lower coat of body rock guard was applied to areas of the truck that didnt' have it.  Not only does it provide a little protection for the paint, its great at hiding minor defects in the body panels...especially in a Northeast truck.

The new door and the rear bed needed to be sprayed.  Older parts of the truck were already chip guarded so we didn't need to respray them.  Also, we didn't touch the tailgate.  It will be color sanded for that fresh paint look.  This paint job allows it to remain black.

My dad once again, now with the gravity feed paint gun, a harbor freight breathing mask, and the old driver's side fender in the back ground which I'll use to play with out little 100 amp welder on.  With a 1/16" rod, you can almost weld sheet metal.

Because our compressor is pretty small, we have to paint the truck in sections.  First was the hood, followed by the bed and lower front, eventually moving throughout the whole truck.  We've wet the garage floor to keep down dust, and all areas of the truck have been primered.

Black first.  The center will be Astral Silver, which is GM paint code 15 for 1986.  It's a very dark silver.  My buick uses pin stripes to seperate the colors, but with my S-10, I've got the body line up top to hide the color change in.  The bottom color change will have a painted stripe.

Above is shot with silver and the painted stripe.

This completes the silver portion of the paint job...

Almost there....This picture was taken for for the tires...I wrote a page about them HERE.

That completes this page...all that is now needed is to paint the AL strip on the tailgate, paint the wheel opening moldings, and other little odds and ends.  Thanks for visiting.  Be sure to check for other updates on the main page!
